Basketball Reflection

This week I chose basketball for P.E. This was our task for it.

Basketball Reflection

Write down five things to think about when you bounce a basketball.
  1. Feet shoulder width apart
  2. Keep your hands on the ball most of the time
  3. Bounce the ball below the waist
  4. Push the ball down instead of patting it.
  5. Keep your eyes on the ball

What are the main four parts of basketball?
  1. Passing
  2. Bouncing
  3. Shooting
  4. Defending

How can you protect the ball from a defender?
Keep it as close to your hand as possible so you have control.

What was challenging for you?
Dribbling the ball in two hands.

What was your favourite part?
Was getting to practice my shooting. I like it because we got to dribble forward and then take a shot.

What would you have liked to have learned more of?
How the game actually works.

What is something you learned?
I learned to keep your hand on the ball for more control.

Sports

In the weekend I play sports such as netball and canoe polo. Last weekend we won our netball 19-1 against Peterhead. I  played the positions GD, C and GA.  My favourite netball netball player from the silver ferns is Casey Williams because she plays my favourite position GD. Also because she is the captain of the Silver Ferns.

I also play canoe polo in the afternoon. My team is in the top grade. It is really hard to try and stay in your boat when somebody is barging into you. Goalie is really hard to play because we use to be able to be held by a person at the back of you but know that we are used to playing and we know the rules we are not allowed to be held.  That means that we have to paddle ourselves underneath the goal and stay there for the whole game.

Throwing-P.E

Today I learnt how to throw correctly I had to point to a target put my feet sideways, a slight knee bend, looking at a target, 45 angle of release and don’t hold the ball too long. I worked really hard on keeping my feet straight to my target.

When my partner throw the ball I had to think about putting my eyes on the ball having cup hands to catch. I did very well catching because I moved to the ball so i’m not just standing there inspecting the ball to land in my hands. Here is a picture of my throwing.
